Look Away, It's Another Felted Cat!

I'm so sorry, Sonja, but...well, I still had more hair left.

Sitting up this time.
I'm really pleased with how I was able to get in some shoulder and haunch definition. This is a muscular cat! Good thing, too, because...
...his homely face certainly isn't going to be bringing in the ladies.

Thankfully, he's already got a designated companion

Mr. and Mrs. Cat took a honeymoon trip to the Argonath, one of the seven wonders of the geek world.

Obligatory comparison and introduction to the original:

Same pose!

"And what gift would a felted cat ask of a real cat?"
"None, Lord Walnut, for it is enough for me to have seen a real cat, and to have heard his majestic words."
Then the Lord Walnut shed three thousand of his hairs.
"These words shall go with the gift...I say to you, Felted Cat, that your paws will flow with hair, and yet over you hairballs shall have no dominion."

(The lighting on this picture was just so reminiscent of Lothlorien, I couldn't resist.)

With humblest apologies to JRR Tolkien, who does not deserve to have his brilliant and beautiful words co-opted by a feline-obsessed blogger.

  1. Make another one so Lord Walnut can give him a box of self cleaning litter!
    Oh, this is too hilarious.

  4. Utterly adorable! If my cat happened to be a long hair breed than I might consider learning this new skill...its quite a sweet thought.

    1. The book does seems to indicate that it would work with shorthairs as well, although it would probably take much longer to collect enough hair!

  6. Oh, those are so cute! I've only just got into felting and have made a mannequin head to hold vintage hats. Everyone thinks she's scary though!

  8. Too cute! And hilarious captions :) Are the little critters heavy? Are their bodies hard or smushy?

    1. They're pretty light, and their bodies feel more compact if you felt them more. On mine, I left the ears and tail smushy because I didn't want to overdo it, but the bodies themselves feel pretty solid.

  9. LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!! This guy is totally cute, too. I'm choosing to pretend that it's made out of wool (which doesn't count as hair or fur in my book, so totally OK).

    1. Sonja, you crack me up! I'll just go ahead and label all future felting projects as "oh yeah, this is totally wool from sheeps."
